Okay, just so you don't end up confused -- there are master lists within The Master List, this being because I have several prompt projects that have 100 prompts each and posting them all here would probably be a bit overwhelming. With that said, I give you.... The Master List.

Those marked with an [M] means that there is mature content (i.e. sexual content, language, violence, etc.) throughout the entire story, others that contain mature content will be marked throughout the writing process.

Welcome to my Master List! By creating this, I hope to make your browsing and reading experience easy and enjoyable by eliminating the tedious task of having to search through pages upon pages of this journal to find the story you need. Here, you can access almost every entry, save for personal entries. Anything marked with an [M] means that the entire story contains mature content; individual chapters with mature content will be marked as such.

Achluophobia [BaekYeol]
EXO
helloimej
Rating: PG
Pairing: BaekYeol
Warnings: None
Genre: Angst
Summary: Wherein Chanyeol is afraid of the dark and needs Baekhyun to be his light.
*~*~*

Chanyeol wasn't sure when it first started. He was young, possibly just old enough to crawl or walk, or possibly when he'd just learn to say basic words. Brought on by what? No one knew. His parents had always guessed it was a shadow that had been cast from a hallway light when he was a baby, or perhaps.....

Achluophobia. A fear of darkness. This is what plagued Chanyeol.

So, why be an idol? Dark spaces were everywhere, and sometimes it was required they be there: backstage before a performance, maybe under the stage while waiting to make a surprise appearance. Then there were the variety shows that were always coming up with ideas and only god knows what you'd end up doing. So, why? Of all the things Chanyeol could have chosen, why choose to be an idol?

The stage; the attention; the thrill of hearing a crowd scream or chant your name. Winning awards; feeling accomplished; making something of yourself with a talent you wouldn't know what else to do with. These were just a few possible answers to the many questions the boy was constantly presenting to himself.

It was difficult some days, to live in constant fear, to have no control over that panic that the darkness triggered, but Chanyeol did his bed and he did it with a smile, the same smile that earned him the nickname 'happy virus'. It wasn't so bad, really, not when he could be known for his fear. No, making the fans believe he was a somewhat-but-not-really normal teenage boy was how he wanted things.

And with the help of Baekhyun, it was easy.

Baekhyun was always there when Chanyeol needed him, and even when he didn't, offering support and smiles and laughter that made everything okay. He knew of the rappers fear, but he never judged him, always accepting him as he was, and for this, Chanyeol was grateful. Sure, the other members were the same, and they treated him no differently than any other person -- save for maybe being cautions when it came to situations that involved them sitting in the day -- but Baekhyun went above and beyond.

Backstage, right before they were set to perform and they had to wait in the dark hallways, Baekhyun was right there as Chanyeol's fingertips, sometimes more literally than figuratively. If the younger male needed a hand, someone to lean on, a support of any kind, the singer was there and never left until it was time for them to get into position.

But the support didn't stop there. If anything, Baekhyun attached himself even more to the boy when they were at the dorm. At night, he would leave the lights on until he was sure Chanyeol was asleep, and even then he hated turning them off -- even when the younger had told him to -- because he was afraid that the boy would have to get up in the middle of the night. He never did, but Baekhyun was still worried.

Then there were those rare nights where something would happen to trigger a panic attack and Chanyeol would refuse to sleep, afraid of even the darkness sleep pulled him into. No one save for the two boys knew of these nights when Baekhyun would sit up with his roommate, talking with him, quietly playing games, poking fun at the others, and talking about how much they missed their Chinese counterparts. It was these nights that wore them down the most, but it was these same nights that Baekhyun treasured the most, because it wasn't often that they were able to just sit down and talk without having to worry about fans or schedules.

For a while, things seemed to be getting better. Chanyeol was falling asleep faster, sleeping better through the night, and had actually been brave enough to try turning off the lights himself. All that came crashing down one morning, just after they'd all gone to bed.

It was nearly three in the morning when Baekhyun woke to the sounds muffled crying, whimpering, and even the quiet whispering of words. Had it not been for the whispers, the singer wouldn't have been concerned, and he would have only rolled back over to sleep more -- this is what, in the past, Chanyeol had told him to do. But those quiet words, the ones he couldn't make out, that caught his attention and had him shifting upright, throwing his blankets off before hanging his feet over the side of the bed.

Despite trying to be as quiet as possible, Chanyeol heard him and fell silent; Baekhyun didn't move, watching the lump that was Chanyeol try to keep from shuddering.

"I know you're awake, Chanyeol-ah." Baekhyun's voice was quiet, soft, almost tender as he rose to his feet. "There's nothing to be afraid of; it's just me, Baekhyun."

"Baekhyunnie..." The younger male's voice broke, cracking and sounding as if he were holding in harsh sobs; it ripped at the elder's heart, the way that Chanyeol called out to him, helpless and afraid. "Baekhyunnie... help me."

Baekhyun didn't need to ask why or be told twice. Without making noise that would wake the others, he pushed himself off the bed and shuffled over to Chanyeol, quickly pulling back the covers -- the younger male flinched at this -- before crawling in next to him. Almost immediately, Chanyeol turned over and buried his face in the elder boy's chest, hard sobs shaking uncontrollably through his body as Baekhyun wrapped his arms around him.

It hurt to see the boy like this. He was their smiling baby, their baby faced rapped, their 'happy virus'; seeing what lay beyond that smile hurt, and it didn't help that Baekhyun had no idea what to do. They'd gone through this before, and at those times, it had been easy: turn the lights on, crawl into bed together, and whisper gentle words until he was able to calm down and sleep once again.

Tonight seemed different. Baekhyun didn't even bother turning on the lights, because as much as Chanyeol feared the dark, he wouldn't want his hyung seeing him like that. Once he'd crawled into bed with him, all the words he'd been gathering in his head vanished and he was left with nothing. The only thing he found he could do was hold the young boy tight and offer his warmth as comfort.

"I-I'm sorry I-I'm such a-a baby, B-Baekhy-hyunnie." Every word shook, broken by the convulsing sobs that still plagued him.

Now, Baekhyun wanted to cry, because, to him, Chanyeol was anything but a baby. He was strong, and Baekhyun was proud of him for the way he handled himself in public and backstage, despite his phobia.

Pressing his lips against the side of Chanyeol's head, Baekhyun whispered, "You're not a baby, Yeollie. You are strong and brave, just like a phoenix." He hoped that mentioning the symbol and power given to him would make him feel better, make him realize that their company also thought he was powerful.

"But I'm not as bright as you," Chanyeol whimpered, the statement almost inaudible as it was muffled by the material of the elder's shirt. "You shine, Baekhyunnie. You have the light, and you're not afraid."

In any other situation, Baekhyun would have chuckled at the boy's words and how he took them to heart, but this wasn't the time; laughing at Chanyeol -- even if it was in good spirits -- was not a good idea.

Chanyeol was quiet for a long time after that, and if it weren't for the awkward way his body still shuddered, Baekhyun would have assumed he'd fallen asleep. After a few more moments, the rapper posed a question that surprised the elder.

"Will you be my light, hyung?"

It was simple, innocent, but Baekhyun could hear beyond the tone and he knew he wanted more than just someone to comfort him when he needed it. Chanyeol wanted someone who would always be there, who would tell him everything would be okay, that he was strong and brave and could fight even the worst of fears. Baekhyun already did all that, but maybe the younger male just needed reassurance. And that is just what Baekhyun would give him.

He tightened his grip around the younger boy's body, pressing his lips against his forehead once more before whispering, "I will always be your light Chanyeol. Always."
